This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital strategy, content development, and institutional communications within a professional academic setting. Interns will play a vital role in shaping IWP’s public presence by helping convey its mission, programs, and events to a broader audience through strategic media outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule, and publish content for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X.
  • Develop graphics, videos, and other visual assets for campaigns and announcements.
  • Monitor engagement, track analytics, and suggest strategies to grow audience reach.
  • Write articles, event recaps, and intern/student features.
  • Live-cover events and maintain media archives.
  • Support newsletters, email campaigns, and internal communications.
  • Contribute to content calendars and draft press releases.

Qualifications

  • Upper-level undergraduate or recent graduate in communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, international affairs, or related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer), graphic design platforms (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and basic video editing.
  • Creativity, professionalism, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of national security or international affairs preferred but not required.
  • Ability to commute to IWP’s Washington, D.C. campus.
  • Availability: 20–25 hours/week during fall and spring, up to 40 hours/week in summer.

Internship-Specific Benefits

  • Preferred Admission: Upon successful completion of the research internship, gain access to preferential consideration for IWP’s master’s degrees.
  • Educational Credits: Eligible to receive $3000 per semester intern scholarship, which can be applied directly toward tuition for the MA degree program.
  • Scholarships: Merit-based scholarships are available.

Please Note: This internship is designed to enrich your academic and professional development beyond monetary compensation.

Application Submission: Applicants must first complete a short screening form to help us assess their qualifications. Qualified candidates will then be invited to participate in a recorded interview.

Selection Process: A representative from the Institute will reach out directly if your application progresses to the next stage. If you do not hear from us, please consider this as an indication that your application has not been selected for further consideration.
