From your home page, click your profile icon and select My Career Interests from the dropdown menu or link to the page directly at https://app.joinhandshake.com/my_career_interests.
Best Practices:
Fill Out Every Question: Each response helps Handshake recommend opportunities that match your goals — don’t skip!
Think Broadly, Then Narrow Down: Start with wider interests (industries, roles, locations) and adjust over time as your plans become clearer.
Update Regularly: Revisit your interests each semester or year — your career goals will evolve as you explore new classes, internships, and experiences.
Answer the Industry Cluster Question: The 6th question connects you directly to your Career Coach and their community. Answering it ensures you’ll get emails, newsletters, and event invitations tailored to your interests.
Stay Honest and Flexible: It’s okay if you’re “exploring.” Pick areas you’re curious about — Handshake will still surface helpful resources.
Leverage Location Preferences: Adding specific cities or regions helps Handshake show opportunities in places where you’d actually like to work.
