NYC Civic Corps, an AmeriCorps program launched in 2009 by NYC Service, recruits and places AmeriCorps members to serve full-time from September 2024 to June 2025 at select nonprofit organizations. NYC Civic Corps members build, develop, and grow volunteer programs by recruiting, managing, and engaging volunteers to address impact areas that are priorities of New York City.
Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator
The NYC Civic Corps member will manage and enhance the Recruitment Champion program. Recruitment Champions are a group of internal volunteers who complete Recruitment tasks to support the overall Recruitment Strategy to bring new volunteers into the American Red Cross. Some of the tasks that Recruitment Champions complete include sharing social media posts, attending tabling events at fairs, posting flyers in their community, and facilitating presentations.
The NYC Civic Corps member will have the opportunity to recruit and train new volunteers for this program, manage our internal database, have regular communication with volunteers, develop new creative materials and recruitment activities throughout NYC.
Engagement Volunteer Coordinator
The AmeriCorps member will streamline Red Cross volunteer engagement by assisting in intake processes, recognizing and supporting volunteers, troubleshooting databases, and ensuring a cohesive experience. They will train and supervise Intake volunteers, manage the internal database, communicate with volunteer managers, and create events to recognize volunteers’ efforts. Database tasks include implementing management tools, overhauling systems, and supporting recognition events.
The Engagement Volunteer Coordinator will overhaul volunteer manager processes, reformat the database to align with emergency management needs, and enhance communication across departments. They will gain insight into various operations, including Disaster Response, Sheltering, Preparedness, Home Fire Campaign, Logistics, Service to the Armed Forces, Operations, Fundraising, and Communications, ensuring readiness for emergency situations.
